ILOILO 5th district Rep. Neil Tupas Jr.was reported to have gave millions of his pork barrel funds to alleged fake non-government organizations (NGO’s).
He joins the likes of Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Gregorio Honasan, Bongbong Marcos, Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada who were mentioned in the pork barrel scam.
Let’s see if there are other Iloilo representatives to be revealed sooner or later.
Calls for the abolition of the pork barrel are snowballing. Proponents want to convert the funds, or part thereof, for scholarship programs for the poor and a student loan system. It will improve this country’s human capital and promote the poor’s right to equal opportunity in education.
It’s a good thing that Iloilo 1st district Rep. Richard Oscar Garin Jr. has just occupied his seat in the House. But I think …..I just don’t know.
What is funny and very embarrassing is thatTupas, whois chairman of the House committee on justice, appeared ignorant of the scam in his media interviews.
He claimed he was just a victim of the fake NGOs. Tupas alleged that there was conspiracy between these NGOs and the Department of Agriculture where he released his pork barrel funds for agricultural project and rehabilitation works after Typhoon Frank hit Iloilo in 2008.
