THE city of Iloilo will culminate its 76thCharter Day celebration this weekend with various activities.

Iloilo City tourism officer Ben Jimena said the celebration highlights will kick off with a grand civic parade by 7AM of August 24.

At least 10,000 people are expected to join the parade which starts from Luna St. in La Paz district and will pass through Bonifacio Drive, Iznart St. and JM Basa St.

A program will be held at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand after the parade.

By 9AM, the 2nd Sen. Frank M. Drilon Dragon Boat Competition will unravel along the Iloilo River across the Iloilo Customs House.

After the dragon boat race is a fluvial parade followed by the releasing of 100 biodegradable plastic balls along the Iloilo River.

Chinese Ambassador Ma Keqingis the guest of honor of the culminating activities.

Ambassador Ma arrived Friday to attend the Mayor’s Ball at Sarabia Manor Hotel.  The city government also honored outstanding city employees and heritage advocates.

Senate President Franklin Drilon will also grace the highlights.
