ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the city will benefit economically from hosting the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings in 2015 despite projected heavy spending on infrastructures and other amenities.
“Our hotels and resorts will earn from accommodating the many delegates and visitors, as well as the stores, big and small, will benefit from their stay here,” Mabilog said.
The mayor expects around 1,000 of the delegates and their aides to attend two ministerial meetings on transportation and food security in October 2015.
“We expect about 300 to come for the ministerial meeting on Transportation on October 8-10, 2015 and about 500 for the Food Security ministerial meeting on October 15-17 that same year. Including their assistants and aides, that could reach to about 1,000 visitors the local economy can profit from,” he said.
