AIRLINE officials on Monday are eyeing pilot error as the cause of the freak accident involving a Seair A320 plane heading to Singapore from Kalibo, AKlan.
Capt. Bert Yap, vice president for operations of Tigerair which operates Seair, said the pilot and co-pilot of the plane are now grounded as a standard measure once an aircraft figures in an accident.
“Masyadongsinagadng pilot ang runway, pag-ikotnalaglagsa shoulder, salupa. So, the engine was immediately shut down, the passengers were disembarked and the plane was towed back for inspection,” Yap said.
Yap said the runway was cleared of the aircraft at around 2 pm.
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport Media Affairs Division said 12 flights were affected by the incident.
