A SUSPECT in a 20-year-old murder case was arrested in a raid on his house at Sitio Ipil, Brgy. Igwayan, San Lorenzo, Guimaras.
Joint elements of Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO) Special Operations Group and San Lorenzo Municipal Police Station swooped down on the house of Rafael Beñetez 5:30am Tuesday.
The raiding team recovered two 12-gauge shotguns with two tubular magazines and six ammunition, two homemade caliber.38 revolvers, a break-type shotgun, and an M16 magazine assembly.
Regional Trial Court Judge Victorino Maniba authorized the raid via a search warrant.
“We have been receiving persistent information that he’s been keeping guns, that’s why we raided his house,” GPPO director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said.
He added that Beñetez reportedly used his guns to threaten his own parents and siblings in a conflict over their properties.
Police learned that Beñetez is facing murder charges for allegedly killing his father-in-law 20 years ago. But, the case was amicably settled.
